Penn State, State College, and the surrounding area of centre county, PA will be covered in my blog. Your issues are our problems here, because your voice needs to be heard. I'm willing to hear your thoughts on what's wrong, what can be changed, or just to vent about State College's issues in general.

DUI's are the plague of our legal systems.
In State College, PA on a football weekend it's nearly impossible to go two blocks without seeing a cop. Understandable it is a smaller sized city with an abundance of people flooding it, but the police are only looking for minor alcohol offenses. It's a good idea to keep people in line, but in this town the police are only looking to make their quota to gain more funding. This is exemplified by the fact that every Wednesday at the Bellefonte, PA courthouse, it seems like every seemingly small violation is alcohol related. I'm not excusing peoples poor judgement, and some people do deserve to be there, but with overloaded probation caseloads and an over-flooded malfunctioning legal system this is a serious issue. Soon your first DUI will warrant a mandatory jail sentence and then our correctional facilities will be over-run. As I said before, some people do deserve their sentencing, but at what price and to what extent?
